Joan's Challenge Butterfly, flutterby

Good Evening Ladies,
I know ...two posts in one day. I created a second card for Joan's Challenge Butterfly, flutterby.
Click on the link to get to the challenge and come join us! http://www.atjoansgardens.com/2013/06/this-weeks-challenge_27.html
The requirements this week are as follows:
Use polka dots
Use some vellum
Use butterflies
Use any colors
Use something that can be purchased at http://www.atjoansgardens.com/
Here is my card....
Butterflies...Wow! what a fun challenge! I started with the Bugaboo Stamp set. The butterfly girl is stamped in Memento ink on Bristol paper. She was then colorized with Copic markers. She was then cut with the Spellbinders die set Decorative Labels Eight. This was mount on dark brown card stock. The dark brown card stock was then mounted on the blue and brown polka dotted paper. The next business of order was to use vellum on this card. So I pulled out my Cheery Lynn die DL 121 Sunflower. I purchased this die at Joan's. This die has been a staple in my collection. I cut the petal part of the die four times. Each petal edge was inked with Color Box pigment ink in blue. I then pinched each petal to create lift. The center was cut once and the edges were inked. Each layer was stacked with pop tape in between and pop tape under the center. A button was added to the center of the flower. A leaf die cut peaks out from under the sunflower. This is one leaf cut from the leaf trio die from Cheery Lynn. I also purchased this die at Joan's. A pearl sprig accents the flower. Next was the butterflies. They were cut from the Cheery Lynn die set Exotic Butterfly Small DL113 in blue card stock.
A close-up of my vellum sunflower.
A close-up of one of my butterflies.
This is the inside of my card. Repeating elements from the front of the card.
I love all the dies I buy at Joan's. They can be used in endless combinations. I feel you get a lot of bang for your buck on dies. I do so love to stamp so most of my cards have a stamped image of some kind or another. I have on order at Joan's the lamb from Our Daily Bread. I can't wait to get it. Check out all of the our daily bread stamps. Joan can order them for you. You won't be disappointed with this stamp company. They have a great sample collection.

Sizzix Flip-Its Circle Card Die

Good Morning Ladies,
I had a great time yesterday creating with a friend. We did some running around as well as creating. We tried some new things.
My card for today was created with my friend's new Sizzix Flip-Its Circle Card Die
We decided this die was awesome! Here is the card I made with it....

This die cut well and scored well with out the crease pad. My friend was iffy on this die because it makes a five inch square card. Well we just added punched edges to the sides and now it is no longer a square card. It was fun to build this cards design details. The center die is from Memory Box. This is one of my friends dies too. I love it! We tried the Aileen's tacky spray glue on this die-cut and it worked like a charm. I then cut a die shape from a Spellbinders die set and stamped the CTMH cupcake with blue ink and popped it up. The leafy vines were cut with a Cheery Lynn Design die. The roses were created using a Sizzix die. Pearls add and extra accent to this card.
This is the card flipped open with the inside sentiment.
Once we had the card made we created an envelope with her new envelope maker. That was a breeze also. So that is next on my shopping list.
Happy Scraps,
Mrs. Swandog

Nurse Bear by Totally Stampalicious

Good Morning Ladies,
I am suppose to be headed off to the European Market this morning. But it is looking like rain, so I don't know if that is going to happen.
I do have a card for you today... Nurse Bear by Totally Stampalicious
This is a simple card. The nurse bear stamp is by Totally Stampalicious. It was stamped on Bristol paper and colorized with Copic markers. It was then cut with a Spellbinders die set and layered on red card stock with the next larger die from the set. The sentiment is from the same stamp set. The blue card stock was a pre-cut fold and go card. The only problem was I did a bad job of folding the card. So I cut it off and used it as a mat on top of a red card stock mat. I worked well as then I have the red peeking through.
This is the inside of the card.
Happy Birthday,
Mrs. Swandog

Joan's Challenge Butterflies

Good Morning Ladies,
I slept a little late this morning. I must have been tired. I do give myself two hours in the morning before I leave the house. I love the quiet and the time to get my creative juices flowing. Everyday is better if I create at least a little in the morning.
Today I have a card for Joan's Challenge Butterflies
You can see and enter the challenge here... http://www.atjoansgardens.com/2013/06/this-weeks-challenge_27.html
The requirements for the challenge this week are as follows:
Use polka dots
Use vellum
Use butterflies
Use any color combination
You must use a product sold at Joan's
You can see and purchase products here http://www.atjoansgardens.com/
Here is my card....
My first business of order for this card was to use vellum. Vellum can be a tricky thing. I cut the vellum wreath with the Memory Box Tupelo Circle die. I purchased this die from Joan. I attached it to my card stock with beacon 3 in 1 glue. I then added pearls to this die. My butterfly dies are from Cheery Lynn. I also purchased these from Joan. The one in the center of the wreath is DL114 exotic butterfly med #1. The small butterflies are B266 Tiny Things With Wings. If you don't have this die set you need to give Joan a call and purchase it. You get the butterfly, dragonfly, bee, humming birds. It is a must have for card makers. The rose is created with a Sizzix die. To top this card off I added white braid trim.
A close-up of the tiny butterflies.
The vellum wreath.\
Another great challenge from Joan and Selma!

Angel of God

Good Morning Ladies,
I am up and there is no rain this morning. That's a good thing. My basement took water yesterday. That is never fun. I remember last year at this time we were in the middle of a drought.
My card for today is Angel of God
This card was inspired by the prayer stamp my sister gave me from Our Daily Bread. She had purchased two by mistake at a stamp show sometime back. I decided to stamp it out. It is stamped in black Memento ink and cut with a spellbinder die set. I inked the edges and cut a mat to match the shape out of Graphics 45 card stock from the Secret Garden pad. I love the Secret Garden pad and am getting a lot of mileage out of it. The background card stock is from the same pad. My lamb image is an unmounted stamp from which company it came I can not remember. It was embossed with Ranger black fine detail embossing powder. It was then colorized with Copic marker and crystal laquer. The flowers are created using a Sizzix die. The fern leaves are cut from a Memory Box die. The leaves are cut from the Cheery Lynn build a flower one die. To top this card off I added a sprig of crystal pearls.
A close-up of the roses.

Joan's Challenge Friend Birthday

Good Evening Ladies,
We have been having some really bad storms. Our power was out of 11 hours during this time. So it has been a little hard to create. I did now however get another card done for Joan's Challenge Friend Birthday
Here is the link to the challenge... http://www.atjoansgardens.com/2013/06/this-weeks-challenge_20.html
The requirements this week are:
Use a plaid background.
Use something dimensional.
Use an embossing folder.
Make a friend birthday card.
Use a product that is sold at http://www.atjoansgardens.com/
So here is my second card...
To create this card I started with the Heartfelt Creations flower stamp set that I purchased at Joan's. I stamped it on Bristol paper and colorized the flower pieces with Prisma pencil and Gamsol.  Each piece was then hand cut. Two of the layers were cut and the petals curled. Two of the layers were left flat. The round floral embossing folder is by Sizzix. The leaf was cut from a spellbinders die set and then stamped with a sentiment. The  sprites are an unmounted stamp that I am not sure on the company. It was stamped on Brisol board and colorized with Spica pens. It was then cut with the same leaf die set and the edges were inked. The little butterfly was cut from a Cheery Lynn Design die set I purchased at Joan's.
A close-up of the stacked flower.
 A close-up of the butterfly.

This is the inside of my card with Happy Birthday stamped inside.

Angel Hug Graphics 45

Good Morning Ladies,
It's Monday and the weekend is over. I was counted among the living yesterday. I am feeling better. We went to the polish carnival yesterday and had the chicken dinner. It was excellent! For supper we had BLT's and corn on the cob. A perfect summer supper.
My card for today is Angel Hug Graphics 45 ...
The angel stamp is a Jane Miller design. I picked the image first and then used colors that matched the background Graphics 45 Secret Garden card stock. The angel was colorized using Prisma pencil, Gamsol and Stickles. I added liquid pearls to her robe. She was then hand cut. The sentiments on this card a from an Inky Antics clear set. The angel is backed by a spellbinder die cut also using the Graphics 45 card stock. The sentiment is stamped on a spellbinder banner die cut. The lace at the bottom of the card seemed like the perfect finish.
This is the inside sentiment using more Graphics 45 Secret Garden card stock.

Newfoundland Dog Dream

Good Morning Ladies,
I went with my husband and my son to the European Market in Chesterton yesterday morning. What a nice market. I picked up two really ripe tomatoes, a candy onion, a chocolate pie from Sister, some honey for the son that didn't go with us. We ate a few things while we were there. It was great! The guys kind of hurried me through. Next time I won't take them and take more time exploring the market.
My card for today is Newfoundland Dog Dream
This card was inspired by the background paper from DCWV. It looked like it would go with Tim Holtz stuff. So I used a Tim Holtz clear stamp set, but just the sentiments. I stamped the front sentiment on Bristol paper and cut it with a Spellbinder die set. The edges were inked with Color Box brown ink from a Cat's Eye ink pad. The sentiment seemed to be fitting for a dog card. I grabbed the new Newfoundland stamp I purchased from Dog Stamps Plus and stamped him in black Memento ink on Bristol paper. The open areas of the Newfie were colorized with Prisma pencil and Gamsol. He was then hand cut. The blue ribbon image is also from Dog Stamps Plus. It was stamped on white card stock with blue ink and embossed with clear embossing powder and then hand cut. To top this card off I added three pieces of cotton kitchen string. I purchased the string at the hardware store in a big ball. I figured I could colorize it in any color using my ink sprays. For this card I used it in it's natural state.
This is the inside Tim Holtz sentiment from the same clear stamp set.

Grumpy Bear Birthday

Good Morning Ladies,
I was up and creating early this morning. Some things have to dry before they can be used. So only one completed card so far.
Today's card is .... Grumpy Bear Birthday
This card started with the Grumpy Bear from Art Impressions. He was stamped on Bristol paper with black Memento Ink. He was then colorized with Prisma pencil and Gamsol. He was then hand cut. Next the trees were stamped on Bristol paper with Memento Ink. These trees are from a clear stamp set by Bo Bunny. The tops of the trees were colorized with Copic marker. Also hand cut. Once I set the scene I went looking about for a sentiment. I grabbed a Fiskars clear set and this sentiment seemed to fit the grumpy bear perfect.
This is the inside of the card.

Honey Bear

Good Evening Ladies,
This cold has got me doing things at all different times of the day and night. I am trying to get rest, but the ideas in my head keep swirling around. So here I am with a card for today.
Honey Bear
I have been purchasing quite a few stamps off of E-Bay lately. I think most are retired but maybe not all. This bear stamp is by The Peddlers Pack Stampworks. He is stamped on Bristol paper with black memento ink. He was then colorized using Prisma pencil and Gamsol. Cut with a spellbinders die set as well as the brown layer beneath. I added a fence to the bottom of the card cut with a Cheery Lynn Design die. A blue ribbon tied in a knot runs along the fence. To top this card off I added a sunflower in gold using a Cheery Lynn Design die.
Happy Scraps,
Mrs. Swandog

Joan's Challenge Birthday For A Friend

Good Evening Ladies,
This cold is really taking it out of me. I wish it would go away! My husband did go to the store and buy some sinus headache stuff. At least now I can sit up and do something. Even if it is just making a card for Joan's Challenge Birthday For A Friend.
Here is the link to the challenge... http://www.atjoansgardens.com/2013/06/this-weeks-challenge_20.html
Here are the challenge requirements:
Use a plaid background
Use something dimensional
Use an embossing folder
Make a friend a birthday card
Use something that can be purchased at Joan's. http://www.atjoansgardens.com/
Here is my card....
To create this card I started with an embossing folder. As I have said before I don't have many embossing folders so that was going to set the theme. I did this in pink card stock. The folder I used is from a Cuttlebug set measure by measure. I stamped Happy Birthday in the oval with black memento ink. My plaid cardstock is from a DCWV stack. The little girl in the flower garden is from the Graphics 45 pad The Secret Garden. I purchased this pad at Joan's. It is the 8x8 pad. I sure have gotten a lot of mileage out of this pad. I used the Memory Box die Lavish Branch #98486. It was cut with blue cardstock. This die was also purchased at Joan's. I added pink pearls by Kaiser to the lavish branch. I created a pink rose using a Sizzix die. To top this card off I added a thin blue grosgrain ribbon tied in a knot.
This is the inside of my card using a spellbinder die set.

Joan's Challenge Make it Manly

Good Morning Ladies,
I am back again. I made it to the table to create a card for Joan's Challenge Make it Manly.
Here is the link to the challenge... http://www.atjoansgardens.com/2013/06/this-weeks-challenge_13.html
The requirements this week are:
Anything Goes
Use a product from http://www.atjoansgardens.com/
Here is my card....
I thought this card would be perfect for my Dad. He served in the Marines. This card has a whole USA feel to it. The stamps were purchased from Joan's Gardens before I left for the dog show. They arrived while I was gone. I knew they were sitting at home and this was the perfect challenge for them. The stamps I used are from Our Daily Bread. The fishing boat is #F452 and the Old Flag background is #D235. I first stamped the flag background using Color Box pigment ink in popcorn, Cranberry and Royal Blue. I then stamped the boat on top of the flag using black Memento ink. The boat and water was then colorized using Prisma pencil and Gamsol. This card was finished off by a compass jewelry piece and a knotted ribbon.
This is a close up of the compass. It was added with pop tape.

Artist Trading Cards... Have they fallen from fashion?

Good Morning Ladies,
I am sick with a cold. So my creating has suffered. I feel yucky!
I came across some old artist trading cards I made back in 2008 and 2007. I was wondering if they had fallen from fashion. Things come and go. Have these had their day in the sun and are now a thing of the past?
Here are the ones I came across:

I used Mica tiles on a couple of them. I will have to look for my Mica and use it in future creations. It is cool stuff to work with.

Lady Godiva in the Moonlight

Good Morning Ladies,
I have been packing all weekend getting ready to leave for the premier dog show. I woke up this morning to rain and am glad I got so much done. Now it is all the stuff that can't be put in the camper or truck until Tuesday morning.
I have a card for you today... Lady Godiva in the Moonlight
This was a fun card to create. The Lady Godiva image was stamped on white card stock using Versa Mark ink. It was then embossed with Ranger black super fine detail embossing powder. It was colorized using Copic markers. The horse's body is covered in crystal effects. It was then hand cut. I wish I could remember the company this image is from. The moon image is an old PSX stamp. It was stamped on white card stock using Versa Mark ink and embossed in black using Ranger black embossing powder. It was colorized with Copic marker. Hand cut also. The background star paper is from Creative Memories. This paper is from old stock I have left over from being a consultant. It worked perfect for this scene. The trees are cut from grey card stock using a Memory Box die. The grass was cut using an Obsession Impression die.
This is the inside of the card.

Happy Sun Day Labrador Dog

Good Morning Ladies,
Happy Sunday! I am still getting ready for the Premier. Lots of packing ...lots of laundry...lots of shopping!
My card for today is Happy Sun Day Labrador Dog

This card was fun to create! The background paper is from a DCWV mega 8x8 pack. The tree with the tire swing is an unmounted rubber stamp for which now I can't remember the company. It is stamped on white card stock in versa mark ink and embossed with Ranger super fine detail embossing powder in black. It was then colorized with copic markers and hand cut. The grass was created using a die from Obsession Impression. The Labrador dog is an image from Art Impressions. He is stamped on bristol paper and colorized with Prisma pencil and Gamsol. He was then hand cut and popped up in front of the grass. The sun is two parts. The flaming sun is a die from Sizzix. The center of the sun is a moon image from Holly Berry House. The moon face is colorized with copic markers and his eyebrows are covered in Stickles. The sun is mounted on the card using a wobbler.

Joan's Challenge Black and Pink

Good Morning Ladies,
I am back again as promised. I had to finish my card for Joan's Challenge this week. You can see the challenge here.... http://www.atjoansgardens.com/2013/06/this-weeks-challenge.html
If you have not yet visited Joan's click on this link http://www.atjoansgardens.com/ to see all the wonderful products she has in her store. And you can see many many samples! Joan's is my main resource for all the great dies I use in my cards.
The challenge requirements for this week are as follows:
Use an embossed background
Use pink and black as your main colors
Use an oval
You must use something sold at Joan's Gardens (use the link above to find wonderful products to add to your collection.)
Here is my card Joan's Challenge Black and Pink

As I have said before I don't own many embossing folders. I did buy this embossing folder at Joan's. It is Hobby Solution embossing folder HSF004 Oval Frame-1. So this is my embossed background and my oval all rolled into one. I ran it through the cuttlebug with black card stock. There is a photo below that shows the embossed background with flamingo added. The flamingo is an image from Inkadinkado. He is stamped on bristol paper and colorized with Copic marker. The pink flower was created with a fringe flower die by Cheery Lynn Design dies. I purchased this die at Joan's. It has a black rhinestone for the center. The roses were created using a Sizzix die and cut out of black glitter card stock.  The olive branches were cut using a Cheery Lynn Design die I purchased from Joan's. To accent this card I added the palm tree and sun flatbacks. It doesn't show well in the photo but they are glittery.
This is the shot of the embossing folder background.

Mrs. Swandog

Artichoke Thank You Holly Berry House

Good Morning Ladies,
An amazing thing happened this morning. I slept in until 6:30. Wow! And I really don't think I messed up my day. So I am posting late and am hoping to get a second post in today.
My card for today is Artichoke Thank You Holly Berry House
This is a stamp I recently bought off of E-Bay. Yes, my friend Darcy has me hooked back on E-Bay. What would make me want to buy an artichoke stamp? Well I love artichokes. They are so yummy! And it brings back childhood memories. The only place and first place I ever ate an artichoke was at my neighbors house when I was a kid. So they bring back a warm memory from childhood. So I guess I could say this is a comfort food for me.
I created this card with a very large layering stamp from Holly Berry House. It was stamped four times on bristol paper. It was colorized with Copic marker. Cutting away one layer at a time until the artichoke itself was cut alone. The sentiment was stamped and cut. A green and white checked ribbon tops this card off.
A better look at the layers.
This is the inside of the card.
I'm sure this stamp will crop up again in different colors.
Happy Scraps,
Mrs.  Swandog

Golden Retriever Mom and Pups

Good Morning Ladies,
The premier dog show is quickly approaching. My excitement is building. I feel like a little kid going on a trip to Disney. I am creating as much a I can before I leave.
My card today is Golden Retriever Mom and Pups
This golden retriever and pups is an old clear stamp image. I can't bring to mind what company  it is from but I think it has to be close to one of the first clear stamp companies. They are stamped on white card stock with Versa Mark ink and embossed with Ranger fine detail embossing powder. They were then colorized with Copic markers. The doily die cut is cut from a Cheery Lynn Design die in pink. The background paper is from that 8x8 DCWV mega stack I have been using. The leafy branches are cut from a Memory Box die in green pearl paper. The roses were created using a Sizzix die. A pearl sprig tucked behind the flowers give it that girly touch. A pink and white checked ribbon tops this card off.
A close-up of the floral grouping.

PSX Hello Tulips

Good Morning Ladies,
It is a quiet morning here. The dogs are enjoying the backyard before we head off to work.
My card for today is PSX Hello Tulips

The pail full of tulips is an old PSX image. I love PSX and miss them as a stamp company. This image is stamped in versa mark and embossed with Ranger fine detail black embossing powder. It is then colorized with copic markers. Hand cut all the way around. Popped up in front is a dog from Magenta. He is stamped on white card stock and colorized with copic markers. The images sit on a purple die-cut cut from a spellbinders set. The sentiment is from a TPC cling set. The background paper is from the DCWV mega stack I have been working from.
A view to show the popping on the dog.
This is the inside of the card.
Happy Scraps,
Mrs. Swandog
