Looking Upward

Good Morning Ladies,
Another cold one this morning. Crazy weather for July, but I don't mind it at all.
I have another framed piece today.... Looking Upward
This piece was created last weekend when I was at the creative day with my friends. It is another watercolor scene. The images are stamped on watercolor paper with black Archival ink. The boy and dog image is from Viva Las Vegas stamps. This is one image but I masked the boy and the dog as individual stamps. The grass was created using a Stampscapes stamp. The clouds are created with a Third Coast stamps image. The cloudy sky was paper towel masked. The bird flying above is also from Viva Las Vegas stamps. It was masked before the clouds were stamped. The whole scene was colorized using Stampin' Up watercolor crayons and a brush. Mounted on a black piece of cardstock and placed in a frame. What fun!
A close-up of the scene.
I used my friends watercolor crayons. I love them, but they are a discontinued product for Stampin' Up. So I went on a search to see if I could find someone who was willing to part with theirs. I located a box of 48 and made the purchase. Now I just have to wait until they come. So more watercolor crayon art to come

Dessert Scene

Good Morning Ladies,
It is really chilly out there this morning. Craziest July I can remember. And way far off from the overbearing heat last July.
While I was gone at the crop day on Saturday I did some scene stamping. So today I have a framed piece Dessert Scene
When I got home I decided to frame at least a couple of the scenes I stamped. I used the masking technique to create this scene. This is a water color scene. Watercolor paper was used to stamp the scene onto. The coyote was the first thing I stamped. I then masked him with eclipse masking tape. I love that stuff. Next the cactus were stamped. I used two seperate cactus stamps. These stamps are from Third Coast stamps. I used a paper towel masking technique to blend them together. The clouds were stamped next. Also a Third Coast stamp. I also used the paper towel masking technique on the clouds. I removed the mask from the coyote and used my Prisma color pencils and my Nigie brush to colorize the scene. What fun!
This is a close-up of the scene.

Mini Tags

Good Morning Ladies,
I was missing in action this weekend. On Saturday I was off to a crafting day. It was fun. Yesterday I was off to a dog training event and then was helping my husband and son get ready for their camping adventure. Busy, busy summer weekend.
Today I have Mini Tags for you....
These were fun, easy, and fast to make. This image is from Viva Las Vegas stamps. The tag is sprayed with Dylusions ink and Glimmer mist.
This set and the next set and on down were inked with Tim Holtz distressed ink. The stamp set is from Tim Holtz. This set the edges were inked with brown cat's eye ink.
These were edged with a gold art deco marker.
This one is also edged in gold.
This one is edged with cat's eye ink.
This one is edged with cat's eye ink.
This one is edged in gold.
The sentiment and flowers on this one are from the Stamps of Life.
These tags are offered up at the Co-op Shoppes in La Porte.

German Cuts Horse Journal

Good Morning Ladies,
It is a little chilly this morning. But you won't hear me complaining. I love sweatshirt weather.
Tomorrow I am off to a craft day with friends. Should be a fun day!
I am entering this in the http://joanstouch.blogspot.com/2014/07/challenge-vacation-card.html
I have something different for you today. It is a German Cuts Horse Journal
The journal base is a composition book. These can be easily found this time of year in the school supply section at any store. The background paper is from Graphics 45. It is from my old stash and was a collection from 2009. The embossed German cut is matted with dark brown cardstock. The tag was inked in brown cat's eye colorbox ink. The corners are thin molding. My friend brought these to me last summer along with other pieces that are similar. They are wood. I stained them with Tim Holtz gold stain in the bottle with the dauber top. You can purchase this stain at http://www.atjoansgardens.com/ It worked wonderfully to stain these pieces. Check out the bottom photo to see the ribbon on the binding that creates a bookmark. This journal was inspired by the German cut.

Castle Card

Good Evening Ladies,
I am really slow on the take today. Posting this late in the evening, I don't know what happened to the day. It has been a very beautiful day.
My card for today is Castle Card
A very simple card. The image is from my old stash. I don't remember the company. It is stamped on white cardstock and embossed in super fine detail embossing powder from Ranger. It is then colorized with art markers. The edges were torn and inked in brown. The background paper is from my old stock. I don't know the company on this paper. I guess I don't know much tonight. The sentiment is from a CTMH clear set.

Tags w/Vintage Cuts and More

Good Morning Ladies,
It looks a little dark out there this morning. It rained at some point last night. I think it also cooled down a bit. This has been a pleasant summer.
Today I have Tags w/Vintage Cuts and More for you. I have not made tags in awhile but I do enjoy making them. So here they are....
This is the group of three tags. Scroll down to see each individual tag and get the details.
The first tag has a vintage German cut. The old man and the sea. He is a vintage embossed German cut. The background was sponged with Tim Holtz distressed inks. It was then over stamped with the world image from Stampland using coffee Archival Ink. Ribbon and string were added as the tie for this tag.
This tag was created using a clear stamp set from Crafty Secrets. The tag was inked using Tim Holtz distressed inks. The inks were applied with make-up sponges. The images were stamped using black Memento ink. Liquid pearls were added to the burst above the sentiment. A flat back dove was added above the rest of the design. Ribbons were tied at the top for the tag tie.
This tag background was also created using Tim Holtz distressed ink. The vintage embossed German cut of the rabbit head made me think of Alice in Wonderland. I had some shapes left over from the post cards I did awhile back. So I found one with the mad hatter and if worked perfect. I stamped a numbers stamp from a Tim Holtz clear set with Tim Holtz distressed ink down the side. Ribbons were added as a tie at the top.
Tags are just plain fun. They are a great way to share a little piece of art with a gift, or can be added to a card or a scrap book page.
Happy Scraps,
Mrs. Swandog

Joan's Vacation Challenge Earth Girl

Good Morning Ladies,
I have another card for Joan's Vacation Challenge Earth Girl here is the link to the challenge... http://joanstouch.blogspot.com/2014/07/challenge-vacation-card.html
This challenge is an anything goes challenge. What fun! Of course don't forget to get on over to http://www.atjoansgardens.com/ and see all of the new product Terri has to offer.
I went and got all the things I needed to build a fairy garden. My sister helped me plant it and put it all together. It is not finished yet.I will post photos when it is complete. If you are wondering why I am telling you this it is because this fairy garden is another really creative thing to do. It has spurred my creative thinking. My card making has been given the uplifting emotion I needed.
Here is my card for today...
This card was created using that mystery glossy cardstock I found in my stash. I stamped the world stamp on it. The world image is from Stampland. It was then colorized with Copic markers. I colorized the background next using Tim Holtz distressed inks using make-up sponges in shades of blue. The little girl image as well as the star image are from a crafty secrets clear stamp set. The stars were stamped using Tim Holtz distressed ink. You can purchase distressed ink from Terri.
This is the inside of the card using the same technique as the front. The sentiment is from a Tim Holtz clear stamp set. I am sure this can be ordered from Terri also.

Action Wobble Floating Cat

Good Morning Ladies,
I can't complain about my weekend. I worked, got some rest, and had some fun. What more could you ask for in a weekend.
My card for today is Action Wobble Floating Cat
This card was created using DCWV water paper to cover the card stock base. Next came the Whimsy image of the cat on the swim ring. He was stamped on Bristol paper with Momento ink. He was then colorized with copic markers, Prisma pencil and Gamsol. He was attached to the card with an Action Wobble. Action Wobbles always make a card so much fun. The fish image is from Viva Las Vegas. This is an unmounted stamp. They were also hand cut and colorized with copic markers. The popped up on the card. The sentiment is from a clear set by CAS-UAL FRIDAYS.
Showing the action wobble.
The popped up fish.
The inside sentiment is by Whimsical Designs.
This card has stamps from different companies. Now I don't know if companies like it when you mix stamps, but it works for me.

Dog Anniversary

Good Morning Ladies,
Today I am headed off to Chesterton Feed and Garden with my sister, my friend, and a new friend I have not met yet. We are going to see about fairy gardens and take a gander at the coy pond. Looks to be a fun day. So I am working hard on laundry so I can head out.
I stayed up way to late last night....So my card for today is Dog Anniversary .
I chose another one of the Doodle Bug triple fold cards. This time in black. I am loving these cards and am wishing I would have ordered more than one pack. My next mission was to pick images. I broke out my unmounted stamps from Viva Las Vegas stamps. Looking through I stamped out a few images. The two dog images looked like fun. These were hand cut. They were colorized using copic markers, and spica pens. The flowers were created using a Cheery Lynn die and a Memory Box die. A black pearl sprig peeks out from behind the flowers. Three pearls in the corner top this card off.
The first fold.
A close-up of the couple.
The card folded all the way out.
A close-up of the sentiment.
Kind of a wacky card. Working late at night creates very different cards.

Flamingo Thank You

Good Morning Ladies,
Last night I went and helped create a card for a young man getting his driver's license for the first time. Of course I forgot to take a photo before I left. It was a fun evening with two friends that I had not spent time with for a long time. I had a good time.
My card for today is Flamingo Thank You
This card started with the flamingo stamp from Whismy Stamps. He is stamped on Bristol paper and colorized with Prisma pencil and Gamsol. The sentiment in the middle of the life preserver is from the Stamps of Life. This was cut with a Sizzix Frame-lits set as well as the pink mat behind it. The flamingo paper that covers my card base is from my stash. This paper works perfect with the flamingo stamp. A pink polka dotted ribbon is tied at the bottom with a starfish flatback to finish this card off.
The inside sentiment using the same products.

Snowy Reindeer

Good Morning Ladies,
Another chilly morning. The dogs have all kinds of energy. Me not so much.
My card for today is Snowy Reindeer
I created a scene with this card using three elements. The first element is the blue snowflake paper from DCWV. This was cut from a 12 X 12 sheet using the design in the corner. The next element was a mountain stamp from Stampscapes. The mountains were stamped with Tim Holt distressed ink in a blue color. I used E-6000 spray adhesive to add glitter to the mountains. This was an experiment as I have never used E-6000 glue to attach glitter before. But it worked like a dream My third element was a stamp from Whiff of Joy. This little girl riding the reindeer worked perfect for this card. The image is stamped on Bristol paper and colorized with Prisma pencil and Gamsol. The image was then hand cut and popped up on the card scene.
 A close-up of the mountains.
A close-up of the reindeer and rider.
A view to show the popping.
 This is the inside sentiment.

It was then colorized with Tim Holtz distressed inks and make-up sponges. The twisting leaves is an image from Stampscapes. Daisy D DSP covers the card base. The horse panel is matted with a piece of tan cardstock. All edges are inked with brown color box cat's eye.

CTMH You Are My Sunshine

Good Morning Ladies,
It is Monday again. Time just goes way too fast anymore. I wish it would slow down a little. I am loving summer this year.
My card for today is CTMH You Are My Sunshine
This card was created using the CTMH Dandelion set. It was my first time to use this set. I knew I loved it when I bought it. Now I love it even more. I found some glossy one sided cardstock in my paper tower. I don't remember what it is but it works well with Tim Holtz distressed ink. And that is what I used to create the color. First I stamped all the images and the sentiment in Coffee Archival Ink. Then the color was  sponged on with make-up sponges. This panel was set on dark brown and gold cardstock ove the card base.
A close-up of the sentiment.
This is the inside sentiment created in the same way.
